The Lion King“Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As a king, you must understand this balance and respect all creatures, from the slithering ant to the leaping antelope,” said Mufasa, a supporting character in Walt Disney's cinematic depiction: The Lion King (1994). The Lion King is a timeless archetypal work that has time and again given hope to young people and shown them that courage is not always innate, but can be learned simply by living life with a bit of “hakuna matata”. The Lion King, through the use of a classic archetype, vivid surrealism and iconic symbolism, shows a coming-of-age story that shows children that life is an adventure worth taking the punishment. The hero's journey is an archetype that has been used in literary and cinematic works. same for ages. The Lion King is a work that tops the pack when depicting this archetype. Simba is called to this journey at the mercy of fate, when his father Mufasa is, unbeknownst to him, murdered by Simba's uncle Scar. Through a series of unfortunate events, Simba finds himself launched on a journey that leads him to meet his wise mentors, Timon and Pumbaa. The viewer can see baby Simba grow into a fearsome yet compassionate lion. Timon and Pumbaa only completed what Mufasa was trying to achieve before his death. Simba receives his call to adventure when his childhood friend Nala reaches out to him to let him know that the Pride is in trouble. We see that Simba has now grown up because he sees Nala in a different way now. Even though he sees that Nala desperately wanted Simba to return to the Pride, Simba refuses to go because the guilt of his father's death still weighs heavily on his conscience. Simba realizes he is the Pride's only hope and crosses the border. middle of paper ......n to teach many young people the values of growing up and the tribulations that come with it. Show how Simba grew from a helpless little lion cub in the wild with the discipline of his father, the help of his two friends Timon and Pumbaa, and the advice of his great guide Rafiki to the strong and powerful king that he is became a youth watch, what it means to grow up. Teaching how people will always try to harm your success is showing how it happens in real life. The use of classic archetypes, vivid surrealism, and iconic symbolism throughout the film was very inspiring and, if viewers paid close attention, they were very easy to find.
