This interesting and partly modern representation of the Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet, was shocking and corporeal. The director, Bas Luhrmann, managed to confront the 400 years of cultural differences between the late 1590s and the late 1990s. The similarities and differences were both separated by ideas as well as physical objects. Two ideas that had obvious similarities between the written play and the film were the list of characters and the speech exchanged, which was the exact storyline from Shakespeare's original writings.
