    Idle No MoreColonization, the Indian Act, emancipation and Indian residential schools are all examples of oppressions that Indigenous people face and continue to face. . As a result of these injustices, in addition to the introduction of Bill C-45, indigenous people began attempting to educate their people about the impending changes. In essence, these revisions sought to once again violate Indigenous treaty rights and further threatened the security and conservation of their creation – Mother Earth. One might wonder how much more abuse and exploitation Aboriginal people could endure. One could say that the tabling of Bill C-45 was the final indignity. It seemed clear that to make a difference, there needed to be a solid plan, in which Indigenous people could once again have a voice and, more importantly, make their voices heard (Caven, 2013). With this in mind, on November 10, 2012, four resourceful women launched a movement that, once ignited, began to spread like wildfire. Aptly, they called this movement Idle no More. As such, this author intends to explore the potential impacts of Bill C-45, the foundations of the Idle No More movement and its results. Impacts of Bill C-45. It is evident that over many centuries, Aboriginal people have developed a close spiritual connection with the land. Unfortunately, Bill C-45 “…attacks land reserved for Indigenous peoples, removes protection from hundreds of waterways, and weakens Canada's environmental laws” (Caven, 2014). Essentially, this law deems the vulnerable waterways that Indigenous people depend on to be unified and exposed to potential contamination.
