Who was Jesus? Jesus is the central figure of Christianity. Jesus was a religious leader and preacher in the time of c. 4 BC - c. 30/33 AD. He was sent to Earth by God and Mary (a virgin) conceived Jesus by the Holy Spirit, without any involvement from Joseph (her husband). He was born in Bethlehem, in a stable and grew up with Mary and Joseph as mother and father, in a small town called Nazareth in Galilee. Jesus' family was peasants and he learned to read and write like all the other children, but his attitude was different. It is said that early in his life Jesus became a carpenter, like his father, but different people see this as different things. He never saw anyone differently from others, whether it was a person of high rank in society, the way they looked, the way they behaved, or the things they said. People find Jesus' forgiveness inspiring because he was able to free people's lives, so they could focus on the present, without regretting the past. Forgiveness allows us to live without remorse and not hold grudges or hurt ourselves, because anger hurts us much more than it hurts the one who offends us. Jesus showed kindness because he sincerely wanted to. Jesus was compassionate toward others and could put himself in other people's shoes. He showed kindness when he felt pitiful towards others. In our world today, people have started to adopt this mindset that the amount of money you have depends on how successful you are, but those who are rich may not be happy. Happiness is more important than wealth. Jesus would not judge people. Jesus would never judge people by their wealth, appearance, or religion. He loved everyone no matter what and would never see anyone as less superior to him. Jesus came to earth with powers from God, but he never considered this to be more powerful for others.
