    Some evidence points to too much food and not enough exercise as one of the main causes. According to publichealth.org, “Americans are known for their consumption of fast food – these foods make up about 11% of the average American diet. Another study shows that added sugars in sodas and energy drinks are wreaking havoc on Americans' waistlines. So it's not just about how much we eat, but what we eat? On the other hand, Americans spend more than $50 billion a year on fast diet programs, exercise books and videos to lose weight. Especially as a New Year's resolution, I wish I had too many holiday dinners and parties. The irony of conflicting messages about health and food consumption in America could send anyone to a therapist's chair with conflicting emotions about food and eating.
