Mr. Riccardo died in 2014 while undergoing treatment in Italy. The house gained the support of the founders and, thanks to this, it was very useful. The home also serves as a refuge for displaced children. The house was originally Mr. Riccardo's residence with a warehouse until it was chosen as a children's home site. The home includes 115 children. These children attend different institutions which include: Roysambu Primary School, Kiereni Secondary School, Giovanni-e-Sylvia School for the Deaf, Mugona Girls Secondary School. The shelter is registered as a community organization in Nairobi. The directors of the Bishop Opera Luigi Locati Children's Home are: Mr. Riccardo, Mr. Thomas M. Otiato, Dr. Leonard PC Amalia and Mr. Peter Mangula. The target groups of the home are: Street families Vulnerable children Rescued children Children from poor contexts Orphans. The home mainly receives short-term support from corporate institutions, churches and individual contributions for sustainability. The house also receives items like furniture, clothes, buckets, mattresses, brooms, etc. through individual contributions.SWOT AnalysisStrengthThe home environment promotes children throughout their growth because the house is always clean and has a large open space that allows children to play. around and interact with each other. The house is located close to town and right on the main road, making it easily accessible to visitors and potential donors. It is located next to a primary school, which makes it easier for children to attend school because it is close. A church is also located next to the house, making it easy for children to go to church when it closes. The house has a stable source of income from rented apartments and other potential institutions, which helps them achieve financial stability. They continue to receive donations from one of the co-founders of the home in Italy. The house consists of three women who help in taking care of the children and doing household activities like washing clothes, watering plants, cooking, washing utensils, cooking, sweeping, cleaning, etc. The house grows crops, which reduces the expense of purchasing food. WeaknessesThe home does not have enough sports equipment, which limits children's sports participation. They could buy more sports equipment for children such as balls, swings for small children. The garden of the house needs work because the grass is dry, which is not good for children playing in the field. The house is located near the main road which has a bad side as children could get into accidents due to traffic. on the main road. iv) The house does not have enough hired workers who could occasionally work on the house to maintain the compound. Opportunities The house could grow more crops such as vegetables on its large land to increaseyour food reserves and save more money. Another opportunity I have already seen around the house is to start raising chickens, which will also increase their food supplies. Children will also learn about agriculture by growing crops and raising chickens. The school has efficient resources like a borehole located next to the boys' dormitory. This borehole becomes efficient in the sense that it provides water for washing clothes, washing utensils, sweeping, cleaning, watering plants, etc. The house is also a classroom where children can revise and study English. ThreatsThe house is not well secured in the sense that anyone can enter at any time and it could be dangerous for the children. The home does not have a hired security guard to secure the home. The location of the house near the urban area could also be unsafe due to different bad peer groups found in the urban area which could easily make the children take up bad habits like smoking, drinking alcohol, taking drugs, etc. My first impression of Bishop Opera Luigi Locati Children's Home My first impression of the house was positive. I entered through the main door and immediately saw the sign at the entrance to the house and that's when I knew I had arrived home. It was a large complex that I couldn't find the office at first. The large trees surrounding the house gave a good atmosphere to the house. As I approached the desk, I discovered the principle of the foyer interacting with another student and he immediately welcomed me and offered me a chair. He showed me around the house, and in the yard it was clean and a lady named Selinah was washing clothes. I could already see that this house was organized and did things online. I walked around and approached the children's dormitories. The children had already gone to school but they had left their beds laid and cleaned their toilets. I recognized that the girls' dormitory had more beds and noticed that there were more girls than boys boarding. Next to the boys' dormitory there was a borehole which contained water which the house uses for different purposes. As I walked behind the office I saw some crops being grown and they were vegetables that I could already see and were cutting down on expenses. Opposite the back of the office, there was a small classroom where children studied English early in the morning. In front, clothes were hung to dry. On the left there was an empty room, then I asked the manager what this room was for and he told me that this is where the poultry farm which is already in progress would reside. Outside the room there was furniture being repaired, including benches and beds for the children. It was from there that I began my community service. I was then given two buckets and a little boy called Moses took me to the borehole to fetch water. I thought it might be easy but it was quite difficult because I had to dip the can into the water and pull it up. which was heavy. I filled two buckets and started watering the crops. After I finished watering the plants, I was told to sweep the boys' dorm. I refilled the two buckets from the borehole and cleaned the boys dormitory which was a bit difficult as the dormitory floor was old and some parts had no cement but I improvised and cleaned the place .Challenges The house has a massive mosquito challenge which could make the children sick, as behind the sleeping quarters there is a bush which invites mosquitoes. The house faces.
