    Jesus was presented by John as the word and according to John, he is the Christ (Barnes, nd). We also see Jesus as the Lamb of God, as noted in “The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Jesus is called the Lamb of God because of his docility and submission (Isaiah 53:7). Jesus gave his life for us as a ransom which was payment for us and became an atonement for our sins. This passage gives a few words to explain this. “He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John
