    1. In what context was the health promotion/prevention program implemented? What was the justification for choosing this context? JW Farquhar's prevention program consisted of a large experimental field study aimed at preventing cardiovascular disease. Its study setting was carried out in California in the following five cities: Salinas and Monterey (the treated cities), Modesto, San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria (the controlled cities). According to JW Farquhar (1996), his rationale for the selection of these contexts was to carry out a study that would analyze the effectiveness of community health education that would make random assignments of a large number of communities. Due to limited resources and the wide diversity of media markets in California, the design of the five non-random cities was contracted. His study of these five cities faced many restrictions, such as being located in Northern California; the population of the cities studied had to exceed 30,000, making the total population of the five cities almost 300,000 in order to provide enough statistical data for the experiment alone; it had to find similarities in terms of ethnicity, demographics and socio-economic characteristics among the targeted population; sharing media markets between treated cities in order to reduce costs; there could be no newspapers or electronic media shared between the treated and controlled cities.
