People all act in certain ways because of their cultures and traditions. They grew up learning to deny that a certain thing was good or bad and they in turn pass this on to their children, etc. These things all play an important role in shaping our society to become what it has become today, some things for better and some things for worse. The bottom line is that humans end up with the one they are most like because that's where they feel they can be.
