  • Essay / Drug Trafficking, A DEA Report - 1678

This is a report on the current drug trafficking situation that we are tracking between the border of Mexico and our homeland, the United States of America. This report was generated by Agent Emily Richards of the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Currently, I lead a special subcommittee that tracks current drug trafficking issues with Mexico. The data collected by my committee highlighted difficult problems that have allowed Mexico's current drug cartels to continue to operate. The following paragraphs will provide detailed information on what our committee discovered. We worked with Mexican police officer Javier Rodriguez, who gave us an in-depth look at two major drug cartels currently operating in Mexico. Rodriquez is currently tracking and trying to stop drug trafficking into the United States along the Mexican border. He gave us detailed information about his recent relationships and discoveries. Recently, he and his partner Manolo Sánchez discovered information about a plane carrying a large quantity of cocaine that landed secretly in the Mexican desert near Tijuana. He and his partner managed to intercept the truck carrying cocaine as part of an attempted major drug seizure. While driving the truck through the desert, their truck was intercepted by Mexican General Salazar. General Salazar drove past the vehicle and relieved the officers of any further duties related to their anti-drug efforts. General Salazar is known as one of Mexico's leading crime fighters. Unfortunately, we have mixed information from agent Javier Rodriguez that contradicts this statement. After drug trafficking in the Mexican desert, General Salazar took a strong interest... middle of paper ...... big steps forward in our fight against drugs. The media is filled daily with current information on local and international drug seizures, indicating that efforts to end the war on drugs are not going unnoticed by the public. These efforts, along with maintaining strong working relationships with countries also affected by the influence of illicit drug trafficking, continue to be the key to successfully winning the war on drugs.
