Gun-related mortality and morbidity are a major concern in the public sector because they have significant impacts on society (Carlson, 2002 ). The idea of ​​allowing students to carry firearms while in college has been debated recently, although the majority of students on campus are not in favor of the idea. A number of incidents, such as the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting, have led to the need to allow students to own firearms while in college (Lott, 2003). However, this idea has proven to be a serious challenge as the disadvantages still outweigh its advantages (Lott, 2003). Allowing students to carry firearms while on the premises can lead to a potentially dangerous situation. Institutions are characterized by the possession of academic records and documents, and giving students consent to have weapons will make colleges resemble military camps and/or police stations (LaPoint, 2009).
