Essay / Comparison of Frankenstein and Death of a Salesman
A human flourishes to succeed in life, he flourishes to get to a point where we can look at life and remember all the moments that we possess, we thrive to be someone great, and we strive to accomplish that with our abilities. Furthermore, Frankenstein wants to succeed. Looking back on your life without any regrets is a difficult task to accomplish. The characters mentioned are all different but yet have the same goal: to try to succeed. The main character of Frankenstein and Death of a Salesman possesses similar qualities; wanting to succeed in life, maintaining the same relationship with another key character in the plot and possessing the qualities of a tragic hero. Victor Frankenstein lives a beautiful childhood in Switzerland, Victor Frankenstein lives a perfect childhood in Switzerland; surrounded by a loving family and accompanied by his cousin Elizabeth. Victor is interested in all the books he reads about science. After his mother's death, his first murderous experience occurred when he attended the University of Germany where he applied his new knowledge and created a human being (the monster) of a size and strength huge. When his creation is made and awakens, Frankenstein is so horrified by his creation that he falls into an illness that lasts for months. While he is sick, the creature drives itself into the woods and deliberately does what its brain tells it to do. Frankenstein returns home to learn that his brother has been murdered and Justine, a friend of Frankenstein, is falsely executed. Having been hated, refused and feared by every human being he meets, he therefore decides that he wants to change. He asks Frankenstein to create a friend for him but he never wants to trade bread with humanity... middle of paper... completely and utterly adores her. He also believes that the way to get rich is through reputation, when you have to work hard. Willy is unsuccessful because of his false conception of becoming rich. Putting the two aside, Willy dies a horrible death. Frankenstein and Willy both. They do not meet all the requirements of a traditional tragic hero. Possession of the tragic flaw ultimately defines them as modern tragic heroes. Victor is looking for his creature. On the other hand, Willy is trying to live the American dream through the wrong means. They both have a key relationship in the story: Frankenstein is to the creature as Willy is to Biff. Both Willy and Frankenstein are classified as tragic heroes because they both possess a tragic flaw. Willy covets the bad dream, unlike Victor who goes too far to create life..
