  • Essay / Analysis of the Art of Visuals - 1741

Theoretical Framework: The art of visuals involves nothing less than transforming words into images, technology into art, and magic into reality (Fink and Morrie, 2010, p.1)This thesis examines the use of a particle system to simulate cinematic effects that would be both impractical or even impossible to produce in a studio. The thesis will seek to question and argue whether particle simulations are simply impractical to carry out in locations and studios or whether there are other factors adding to this. The interrogation leads to three key questions: • The only practical way to do this is digitally? Risk factors for actors and stuntmen?• When is it more cost-effective or practical to use digital effects than to shoot a scene in real life?Example of key issues respectively:1. The transition from mystic to Logan in X-men (2000)2. The 1926 silent film Fire Brigade contains a scene in which a toddler is abandoned in a burning building and must be rescued. This was filmed by optically compositing two shots separately so that the little girl actually appears threatened by the fire.3. The attack of huge crowds of orcs in the Lord of the Rings films (2001-2003) (Fink and Morrie, 2010, p.3). One of the goals of the study is to understand why particle simulation has become a major part of the film industry. Have a deep knowledge of the dynamic world and learn the art of illusions. No one can deny that most films today would not have the same depth of scene if they were not made digitally, mainly because of the key issues mentioned above. I had once perceived somewhere what is so true today: “visual effects are the emerging heroes of the film”. Not just movies but today...... middle of paper...... and a lot of time I had some problems with the lighting and I guess I kept experimenting until 'until I am no longer satisfied. Endeavor Nuke for compositing but it didn't suit me well, I still prefer after effects. Overall, I was pleased with the outcome, mainly because I started with no knowledge of this topic and got somewhere. The relationship between these artifacts mainly concerns dynamic effects or different types of simulations. I began to experience it individually and, in the end, learned to compose it into an authentic life sequence. Regarding my question, I realized that it is preferably more prominent to do it digitally, because the type of hyperbole and depth you choose to incorporate into the scene is easier and no one has to care about key issues, especially one that involves risk for stuntmen and actors.
