  • Essay / Tangled between fantasy and reality - 772

While only one of the parents remains alive. Kokone had held his family in high regard and with the greatest respect. Her parents were always fair to her and her siblings. She would do everything in her power to protect them. Geographically his birthplace was located near Theymarsh. Until the day the family was forced to flee their own home due to a tragic war ravaging the region. Smoke filled their house as the fire raged with a crackling hiss. Kokone woke up in the middle of the night, startled by the room covered in smoke as the fire raged like a devil cracking her whip in front of every path she took in an attempt to escape. She managed to crawl through a nearby window and ran towards her parents who had managed to escape on their own. Her two older siblings were not survivors of the fire, as part of the house had collapsed before the parents could attempt to save their children. However, they had to flee, as the sounds of soldiers were still nearby and pillaging the small town. Bloodcurdling screams pierced the night and the sounds of clashing swords echoed, which was their soundtrack that night for a lost city. While most of Kokone's life was spent in Theymarsh, the war-torn girl's spirit was fragile. Many intimidating memories had tormented her to the breaking point of mental distortion. The illusory enemy who seemed to follow her shadow by shadow followed her. But was she losing her mind, she kept wondering? Their new home in Essembra did not replace what was once their humble abode. All her friends and siblings she once knew were now disappearing faces from a scroll of history written on a war-torn parody. She will never forget the faces of the soldiers she and her family had escaped... in the middle of a paper... like a packet of cut sausages. Blood had splattered on her face but she paid no attention to it. She saw what she had done through her red vision. It was like she was wearing bifocals with rogue tinted lenses. Her face seemed to fade as she heard her mother scream, "Why did you do this to me?" Why would you abandon your mother? His voice was gargled and very distant. Kokone dropped the rapier as the soldier's face transformed into that of his mother. It must have been a trick of the evil shadows, that was all that had invaded her mind as she walked towards the now corpse of her mother. She crawled out the window like she did that night, she lost everything she knew, but this time to never look back and to continue protecting the world from the shadows of evil that followed her with his mind entangled between fantasy and reality..
