IntroductionThe problem with partnership working is that there are too many partners. Partnership working can be defined as a group of individuals, agencies or organizations with a common interest, working together to achieve a specific objective. . Partnerships are usually formed to solve specific problems and can be short- or long-term. (Dewhurst, 2009) Although it is recognized that there is an absence in definitions of partnership working, Powell, Glendinning & Rummery (2002) proposed the following minimal definition. “The involvement of at least two agents or agencies having at least common interests or interdependencies; and would also probably require a relationship between them which involves a certain degree of trust, an equality of reciprocity..." (Glendinning et al, 2002, p 3) For the partnership to run smoothly, the partners must communicate, coordinate and cooperate effectively with each other. Working in partnership is not always simple and has disadvantages; however, there are benefits to working in partnership.
