Today in the workplace, records show a study of unethical behavior taking place in the realm of business organizations. This is a growing problem among various businesses and corporations. The problem with bringing these issues into the public eye is that it reflects negatively on the company as a whole. The words “scammer” and “fraud” have been aimed at our country’s five hundred wealthy companies and the most respected business partners in the market. There are many reasons why these fraudulent acts are now relevant in the eyes of the media, but none of them contribute to these companies' reputation for leadership within the corporate world. Issues such as mismanagement of funds/theft, mistreatment of employees, both socially and verbally, and bullying are the most popular topics. Computer fraud (computers), identity fraud, account manipulation and small fraud (harmless but relevant) are the categories of fraud. Forty-eight percent, or nearly half of the companies surveyed in a recent PricewaterhouseCoopers survey, reported being victims of fraud. The average cost of this situation is $1.7 billion in mismanaged funds. This is the number one problem in the workplace today. The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today and Los Angeles Times are some of the main attractions of these illegal acts. When some of the most renowned news companies in the world spread these articles virally, it hits businesses and individuals incredibly hard. The New York daily reports that State Attorney Eric Scheiderman has opened a forty million dollar fraud case against multi-billionaire Donald Trump's Trump University. Schneiderman's lawsuit says Trump University victimized up to five thousand... middle of paper ...... professional workplace. The problem with these issues is that they corrupt the name of entire companies and even individuals.
