Essay / Hunter S. Thompson - 1754
IntroHunter S. Thompson was a great American journalist who just wanted to see this country bring peace. Now I'm going to tell you why he had an impact on America and I'll critically analyze him and his work and just tell you some crazy things he did in the 60s and 90s. In 1968 , Dr. Thompson was given the mission to track the monsters of America who were known as the "Hells Angels", a California motorcycle gang. Thompson thought it would be the revolutionary thing that would make him a famous writer, and it was, but it wasn't what he wanted, he was happy with his work, yes, but not in the way he wanted it. He wasn't paid enough, he thought he was being ripped off by publishers, but it still made him a household name in the writing industry because it was the takeover article that America needed to know, it showed the worst scum hiding in our own backyard. "His Hell's Angels documents exactly how the band was created by mainstream media as "rape mania" - what Thompson calls a "public breakthrough, through rape, on the scale of the Beatles and Bob Dylan" (Klinkowits. "New Journalism " DISCOVERYAuthors. 2003) The story follows Dr. Thompson's adventures with Hell Angles members Little Jesus, TheGimp, Chocolate George, Buzzard, Zorro, Hamebone, Clean Cut, Tiny, Terry the Duck, FatFreddy, Filthy phil, Charger Charley the Child Molester (I want to make a comic about this guy), Crazy Cross, Puff, Magoo, Animal and at least a hundred others, but these are the ones Thompson focuses on is focused. There was an incident where he saw one of the members (Tiny) beating his wife and dog in front of many members and Thompson walked up and said "Only a... middle. of paper..., they are horribly depressing. This book was the best and true impact of the style Thompson was known for in journalism called "Gonzo" and Thompson didn't want it to be but he followed it and fell in love with it after a while and this was the first book to be known for Gonzo and is still called his best work. (Overview by Hunter S(tocking) Thompson. " DISCOVER the authors. Detroit: Gale, 2003.) In the 90s, there was a movie version of the book that went by the same name, starring Johnny Depp in the role of Duke, in which Thompson was heavily involved in the production and even forced the directors to change when the original director, Alex Cox, wanted to take Thompson's speech about the waves and make it into an animation. Thompson really liked his. work and didn't want anyone to change it in any way that would detract from the story or mood of the book..
