EXECUTIVE INTRODUCTION: This report has been compiled to explore and investigate whether businesses (retail and services) are complying with the King 2 Report and the Triple Bottom Line, how companies have adopted these concepts in their daily business operations and how they compare to each other. The report includes the issues affecting South Africa and how they relate to the King 2 report. This report was mainly compiled on the five levels of Pick n Pay Corporation and ABSA Bank, namely their social responsibility d their company, their stakeholders, their business performance, their BBBEE compliance and their ethics. The first level deals with their responsibility to give back to society, help meet basic needs and the whole concept of transforming society towards a higher income group. The stakeholder level deals with how they manage their stakeholders in terms of policies that have been put in place and the attractiveness of actions that may or may not attract investors. Their performance level will be used to determine each company's ROI while the final levels will address their compliance with BBBEE policies and how they contribute to this, while acting ethically towards all stakeholders. All this is evident in the projects they are involved in, the initiatives and policies they follow and the way they behave sustainably.
