Essay / Love in Two Works of Art: A Compare and Contrast Essay
A Compare and Contrast Essay: (need a creative title) “Art should be an expression of love , otherwise it is nothing. » Art is just that, one of the many ways people can express their love. LOVE by Robert Indiana and The Kiss by French sculptor Auguste Rodin are just two sculptures that demonstrate love. LOVE is a structure of the word love in red with the first two letters above with the "O" tilted and the last two letters below the first two, which is publicly displayed in New York. The Kiss is now in the Rodin Museum in Paris, France. The sculpture depicts two figures of the opposite sex kissing. The materials and colors used in both sculptures, as well as the aspect of love they represent and the story behind the sculptures, The Kiss appears to be more romantic. Neither LOVE nor The Kiss are made of the same materials or colors. The LOVE sculpture was made of patinated steel. The red and blue colors of this structure are incredibly hard to miss when walking down West 55th Street or Avenue of the Americas in New York City. The Kiss statue, for its part, was sculpted in bronze and marble. Unlike LOVE, the hard, grayish stone color of The Kiss sculpture has a very spooky feel, yet remains one of the most romantic sculptures some have ever seen. Although both sculptures, LOVE and The Kiss, are about love, they are touching. on different aspects of love. The LOVE structure illustrates love in general, as a whole. The word love can be interpreted as the love that a parent has for their child or even the love of an object. On the other hand, The Kiss can be interpreted as ecstasy, or even lust. Although The Kiss seems to be considered the more romantic of the two, LOVE better demonstrates love because the... middle of paper ...... influence on a person's life can be the reason for which it is so widely used as a subject or theme of any type of art. Romance, which is the emotional attachment between people who love each other, is a common way artists visually demonstrate love in their works. Although materials and colors have a lot to do with the visual aspect of the demonstration of love in a work of art, the aspect of love that the work of art shows as well as the story behind the piece itself can cause the artwork to not only be about love, but also about love romance. Many would agree that LOVE and The Kiss both demonstrate love, however, The Kiss is more romantic of the two. www.musee-rodin.fr/en/collections/sculptures/kiss http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/506608/Auguste-Rodin
