Robert Frost is known for being a poet, but he is not really known as Robert Lee Frost, the person. Who is the real Robert Frost? Was he the healthy person he appeared to the public to be? Was his life really full of beauty as he wrote in his poetry? Who was really behind the typewriter? “Robert Lee Frost, four-time Pulitzer Prize winner, was born in San Francisco” on March 26, 1874 to his parents Isabelle and William (Dreese). Frost lived with his loving mother, abusive father, and sister Jeanie. "Because his father was a violent drunk, Frost, as a child, regularly witnessed his father's fury and rage, and if his mother disagreed, William would become brutal, smashing furniture and screaming” (Dreese). His mother, Isabelle, “ran into the street with her children to find shelter” (Dreese). Frost suffered from "stomach pains and other mysterious illnesses" due to all the emotional situations he went through when he was young (Dreese).
