Essay / Lady of Wisdom - 696
Maya Angelo's life would have been very different if she had no direction. She would be a woman without a goal in life. She would not have the strength to endure the trials and tribulations. She was a single teenage mother who didn't know where her help would come from. If she didn't have goals in her life at that time, she would have fallen through the cracks, as most teenage mothers do. She wouldn't be able to take care of her child. Maya and her child could have starved to death if she did not know how and where to get help. Maya could have stayed on the streets as a prostitute to feed herself and her child. Therefore, she risked her life every day trying to provide for her family. Maya wouldn't have known what she was capable of if she didn't have direction in her life. As a result, her life would be full of stress and anxiety as she struggled throughout her life. After Maya, the attacker, was beaten to death, she became mute because she thought her words caused that person to be beaten to death. If she didn't have support, she might have stayed silent and believed it was all her fault. Maya would not have become one of the most famous poets in the world, as we know her today. More importantly, Maya would not have graduated while she was pregnant. Additionally, Maya reportedly dropped out of school and lived a life of poverty. She would have had a very difficult life without the wonderful support system that helped her find her voice and get back on her feet. Maya supported the civil rights movement. If she hadn't offered me her support, I'm not sure I would be able to attend a major school today. She is a very inspiring woman. I know his poem... middle of paper ... all talents. I believe Maya's new purpose in life was to educate people of all lifestyles. She had goals that she was determined to achieve. She remembered all her teachers and used her skills to move forward, no matter the circumstances. I know Maya had a hard time growing up in a time of racism, but she didn't let that stop her from succeeding. I know it was just as difficult for Maya to be a woman at that time. Maya made the choice to succeed in these perilous circumstances and she moved forward with the right attitude to achieve the goals that she believed would allow her to succeed in the long term. Maya is a great role model for all generations. She is the main reason I am in school now to pursue my dream of becoming a coder and medical biller. Maya makes me proud to be a smart woman with a purpose in my life.
