Essay / Imagination and Imagination - 1511
His greatest achievement was to remove the idea of imagination from its spiritual roots and place it in the hands of the individual (Journal 4/5). With the Freudian ideal, everyone is able to see exactly who they would like to be and shape their being to match it. This gave the imagination a sense of uniqueness that was not possible when religion and strict rules were in charge. I am very grateful for many of Freud's ideas because they opened minds and are still very evident in the modern world.
