Tell us about an engineering idea you have or your interest in engineering. Describe how your ideas and interests can be realized and linked to specific resources within the College of Engineering. Finally, explain what a Cornell engineering education will allow you to accomplish. Since I was a child, I have believed that engineering serves as a bridge between various disciplines. It seamlessly linked the liberal arts with the natural sciences and, by extension, served to practically apply their ideas and notions for the benefit of society. With this belief, I have always been passionate about trying to solve real-world problems using an interdisciplinary approach. This belief, coupled with my distinctive curiosity, sparked in me a deep interest in engineering. My innate curiosity and passion for interdisciplinary studies compelled me to apply to Cornell University. Cornell University's College of Engineering is particularly appealing to me because it uses an interdisciplinary approach to deliver holistic, unparalleled research and an academic environment that empowers students to creatively and effectively address societal challenges. Curiosity has been a distinct and dominant attribute of my personality throughout my life. Although many people find the questions “What if…”, “Why…” or “How does it happen…” irritating and infuriating, I have always had a lot of fun thinking about them or simply asking them. When I ask myself these questions, they often lead me to surprising answers. Specifically, whenever I learn a new concept or idea in one of my science classes, I always question its practical application. In my physics class, I remember learning about the electric and magnetic potential... middle of paper ... the inary potential of thermoelectric energy, and would serve to greatly improve thermoelectric generators. Additionally, the College of Engineering offers students the opportunity to pursue research accompanied by its distinguished academic mentors. The breadth and breadth of academic opportunities offered at Cornell University are unparalleled, enabling students to become not only critical thinkers but also creative leaders. Due to my innate curiosity, deep interest in engineering, and desire to pursue an interdisciplinary postsecondary education, and the unparalleled research opportunities offered at Cornell University, I strongly believe that pursuing a B.S. a major in engineering physics would be the ideal opportunity for me. This opportunity will allow me to exploit my curiosity and my passion to meet the challenges of tomorrow..
