Essay / Wind Power vs. Hydropower - 2027
Wind Power vs. HydropowerSean CoxSaint Stephen School, Grade 8Ms. MitchellApril 3, 2014Literature Review:The topic of this literature review is wind power and hydropower. The goal is to discover how wind energy and hydroelectricity influence the world and our lives. “Environmental science is the study of the interaction of living and non-living components of the environment, with particular emphasis on the impact of humans on these components. (Hartwick, What is Environmental Science?) This research topic involves the study of environmental science. The following characteristics of wind and hydropower will be covered: background information including definitions and previous research, how wind and hydropower have been studied in the past, obstacles or opposition related to the wind and hydroelectric power, as well as future work or next steps. . Calvin Souther Fuller worked with other scientists, he created the solar cell which ultimately produced solar energy, which led to solar panels. Previous research shows that health problems have been found linked to wind turbines or wind energy. Environmental concerns have also been reported regarding hydropower, as it affects aquatic animals and their homes. Science Daily states that "researchers have proposed a study to optimize the efficiency of electricity production and better control of wind farms." Scientists are trying to create better ways to produce wind power because there are many challenges to using wind power, such as wind direction, weather, or even the atmosphere. They discovered that by changing the direction of the wind turbine blades, the power generated would be affected by increasing the amount of...... middle of paper ............ .. ........................6Materials.............................. .................................................. ................. ................................. .................................. ..7Procedure.............. .................................................. .................................................. ................ ......................7-8Data and results....... ....................................................... ........................... ....................... ..............................8 -9IlI.
