Asylum Seekers People who flee their homes in the face of persecution or threats to their lives deserve compassion and support. Unfortunately for those who arrive in the UK, they are often greeted with more hostility and treated like criminals. New legislation appears set to make the situation worse. Asylum seekers are all around us. They eat, breathe and function like us, so why should we kick them out? The dictionary defines “asylum” as “protection granted by a government to someone who has fled their own country for political reasons.” country because they want to escape the abuses they suffered in their own country. So it's not a bad thing for someone to come to our country because there could be a better life, right? However, surveys have shown that asylum seekers are treated as badly or worse in this country than in the previous one. And do you know why? Because politicians are more interested in spending money on so-called "bigger things" than on people's lives. I don't know about you, but this disgusts me. Just imagine someone who cares more about material things than the lives of innocent children and adults. God created this planet so that everyone lives equally and no one is mistreated. So why should we deport asylum seekers? Because we are too interested in ourselves rather than others.
