Feminism: choose your weaponIn a society where equality is constantly fought for, there will inevitably be conflicts. Feminism, the movement to create empowerment and equal rights for women, has been criticized by those who question who, what, and how feminism should be fought with. Many conservative feminists believe that succumbing to men's pleasure is never the answer, while "lipstick" feminists believe that they should be able to use their full essence to establish equality. However, society needs women as much as men. Feminism should not focus on how women achieve this equality, but rather on reaching this point of equality in the first place; with everything they got. Feminism could trace its roots back to the women's rights movement in 1848. Women were tired of their voices not being heard, so they organized the first women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York. After 2 days of exchanges and debates, 68 women and 32 men signed a call for equal treatment of women and men before the law and for women's right to vote. (Imbornoni, A.. Np. Web. Since then, feminism has expanded to other categories. There is liberal feminism which views everyone as equal and believes in equality for all, radical feminism which believes that all forms of oppression come from male domination, socialist feminism which focuses on women of the working class, etc. (n/a, N.. Socialist feminism will fight for equal pay by doing the same work as men, where... middle of paper ......r fans, so what kind of feminist can say this is wrong? Feminists should not denigrate others because they use different methods to achieve empowerment and equality, but rather accept what they have to contribute. Instead of mocking the tactics of others, feminists should “pick their weapon” and use their own strategy to achieve equality and create change. References Imbornoni, A.. Np. Internet.
