Essay / A Brief Biography of Emily Dickinson - 775
The well-known famous poet Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. Growing up, she was busy with school, church activities, gardening, baking, and exploring nature. His family was well known in Massachusetts; his father was a member of the governor's cabinet and a member of the United States Congress. In 1840, she attended Amherst Academy. At Amherst Academy, she was an excellent student. Many said she attracted a lot of attention and was very original in the way she presented herself. Dickinson's poetry contains a large amount of scientific vocabulary, and she acquired most of her knowledge at this academy. Seven years later, she enrolled at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary. At Mount Holyoke, she was successful in her studies and became very involved. Like most institutions of the time, Mount Holyoke believed that students' religious lives were part of their responsibility. Dickinson refused to participate in the school's Christian evangelical efforts. She had not abandoned the claims of Christ, but did not think it was an important issue. Dickinson loved sending short poems to her friends during holidays and other special occasions. On Valentine's Day in 1849, Dickinson wrote a poem and sent it to William Howland, one of the young men in her father's law firm. Howland was so impressed by the poem; he sent it to the Springfield Republican newspaper. A few days later, Dickinson saw the poem printed on the page. She was completely horrified and managed to hide the diary from her father. This shows that she kept her poems a secret. In the mid-1850s, her mother fell ill with the plague for the rest of her life, so Dickinson confined herself to the house. At that time, she began to take her poetry...... middle of paper......poem because when I read it, I suddenly became interested. The idea of the speaker going through the stages of depression and calling it a “funeral” was very unique. The speaker didn't really know and hadn't really experienced the madness until then. I learned that when you are going through a difficult time and have difficulty understanding difficult events, you can always remedy the causes of what is happening. The poem helps me understand what it means to be at this point in one's life, if it even happens. Emily Dickinson was a very unique and original writer. She is very inspiring to me, as well as to others. She was full of mystery and I think that's why people are so interested in her, aside from the fact that she wrote wonderful, creative poetry. His dark way of writing things makes you think and constantly question you. His poems will be such an inspiration, passed down from generation to generation.
