There are many limiting factors, such as shelter, abundance of food and water, predation, and many different factors can constitute the constraint that will determine human carrying capacity. Human carrying capacity is the number of people who can live on earth without destroying its future. Given Earth's rapid population growth and our current inability to meet the basic needs of most of the world's population, human carrying capacity has become a major concern. Earth could accommodate many more people living a simple country lifestyle than living in an American suburb.
