    Therefore, although Rawlings focused on people and their values, some had mixed reactions to his policies. Rather than having a positive impact, some believed the opposite and felt that his methods had caused them difficulties in urban areas. For example, many displaced resources and production were moved more to rural areas, so the terms of trade were more favorable to producers in some rural rather than urban areas. According to the African Studies Quarterly, many wages remain a problem because increases were still not enough to offset the price of imported goods. Besides labor issues, there were other economic and political oppositions, business concerns, and students protesting new education reform programs, to name a few (Adedejî , 2001). The lesson I learned from this is that I believe that Rawlings made many positive changes in a short period of time and that these changes will not always benefit the general population. It will be up to the new government to continue to find ways to build the economy and modernize its economy.
