    Alejandro Vera 5/13Leta Stetter Hollingsworth The first day of her life occurred on May 25, 1886 near Chadron, Nebraska. Leta was the eldest of three children of Margaret Elinor Danely and JohnStetter. She and her two sisters, Ruth Elinor and Margaret Carley, grew up in their grandparents' house. Leta, at the age of 12, moved with her sisters to Valentine, Nebraska to live with their father and stepmother. Leta's life there was difficult because her father was not there most of the time and her stepmother did not treat her very kindly. Leta's first passion was writing under the influence of her parents. She loved poetry to find peace, and at the age of 14 her poem was first published in a newspaper. At the University of Nebraska, she met her future husband Harry Levi Hollingsworth face to face. They became husband and wife on December 31, 1908 in New York. Leta did not give birth to any children. Leta Hollingsworth's cause of death was abdominal cancer on November 27, 1939, at the age of 53.
