    The term autism was first used by psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler in 1908. He used it to describe one of his patients who had schizophrenia. He used it to describe his patient who had withdrawn into his own world. The pioneers in the study of ASD were Leo Kanner and Hans Asperger. They both worked separately and studied different children. In their research, both of their studies showed that the children they studied had similar characteristics. Kanner's and Asperger's children had problems with social activity and were different from normal children in terms of fine motor skills. (Mandal)What is autism? Autism spectrum disorder is a broad term for many conditions, one of them being autism, that affect the way a child thinks, interacts, learns, plays, and how they imagine. The literal term for autism is “. . . a group of biologically based neurodevelopmental disorders that affect a child's behavior and social and communication skills” (Rosenblatt, Carbone, Yu 5). Some of the diseases related to As I mentioned before, it is very difficult to tell if a child has ASD. I will give some examples of children with ASD. A typical child will turn their head when they hear their name. A child with ASD might not turn around or look at all even if you have called their name several times, but they will respond to other sounds. A child without ASD brings a photo to show his mother and shares his joy with her. A child with ASD can bring a bottle of bubbles to his mother but doesn't even look at his mother when he gives it to her and doesn't share the pleasure of playing together. Additionally, a child with a speech delay will point or use a facial gesture. A person with ASD will do nothing to compensate for this speech delay.
