  • Essay / Learning Styles - 707

It is clear from “The Biology of Learning” that learning, the ability to acquire knowledge, is an ongoing process. As we know, humans are far from perfect, even though many of us are constantly afraid of failure. However, making mistakes is part of the learning process that we must learn to manage. Unfortunately, as humans we do not have the skill to read minds, so no one will know what you want if you do not insinuate your thoughts and opinions, and we must recognize that nothing will change in unless you take the initiative to propose a change. Although it can be difficult at times, I find it crucial to be engaged and a good listener to retain as much information as possible and ask questions when necessary. After taking notes in class, I like to retype my notes, paraphrase words to my understanding, and highlight key points. Additionally, I create flashcards of key terms and try to review them whenever I have time between classes. Also, usually when I'm reviewing my notes, I like to go to my room and recite my notes out loud. That said, I feel like everyone has a different learning style, whether it's seeing, hearing, or doing. Understanding your learning style can really maximize your study time by using methods tailored to your strengths..
