  • Essay / Contemporary media and their ethical dilemmas

Throughout the fall 2019 semester, our course taken MSJ 11402 Media and Communication Ethics, we learned the basics of ethics and its relationship with media. In addition to this, as part of our program, we were tasked with watching films primarily based on contemporary media and their ethical dilemmas. Sometimes these films reveal a conflicting situation. And our final mission was to write an article on contemporary media and their ethical dilemmas: a cinematic representation. In this article, I will try to express my understanding and try to relate the dilemmas present in the films. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on “Why Violent Video Games Should Not Be Banned”? Get an original essay In this article, I will try to find out the ethical dilemmas and connect to the role of journalism ethics. In fact, ethics is what we believe and media ethics are present and remain. It has always been about constantly inventing and modifying mistakes to introduce new social and technological conditions. Media ethics is a revolution and it must be open to the future. Today, a day of investigative journalism opens new avenues in terms of ethics in the media. Ethics is not just a theoretical document. We take dominion. How we act and react to the new and different situation. As journalists, teachers, students and ethicists, we must create a bridge between the old and the new. This practice has been followed in the editorial staff for several days. Now coming to the film section, in the Insider film “The value of investigative journalism and free media in exposing health threats is well covered. Alongside the film is the question of where and when the mainstream media were free to act in the public interest? And that's one of my dilemmatic observations. In this film we can see that the influencer, the dominator or the barrier of journalism ethics and professional journalism at the corporate level. While the film is a must-see for anyone interested in media because it explores the argumentative relationship between corporate interests and independent journalism, it also asks a question that will be very difficult to answer: Are we sacrificing the good? -be your family to tell the media something you knew? And if so, would it be ethical despite the dangers and threats? In the film “The Year of Living Dangerously”, can we identify a moral situation in the film that any character faces? What questions does this dilemma raise and are there any answers? It was one of my angels to identify the point to cover. Guy Hamilton's dedication to his job exposes him to ethical and moral conflicts when he obtains secret information about the PKI. And another ethical question arose when he had to make a choice between his career and the British woman he fell in love with. And the hare is the dilemma created. Here his dilemma situation was his career and his love. So “we saw that this raises an ethical question, what is the nature of human love, trust, commitment and loyalty, and how this conflicts with the ethical commitment of a journalist professional towards objective “telling the truth”? During our discussion, we discovered that there is a “right” way to make this decision, nor is there a blind way to make it. The boundary between the protection of history and that of the collective is blurred; it is up to us, as individuals, to serve.
