    It appears to provide many benefits, the main one being cardioprotective health. Another reason I'm inclined to incorporate the Mediterranean diet into my own is that I have a problem with hereditary high cholesterol. Even though I eat a relatively healthy diet and exercise 3-5 times a week, my cholesterol levels remain high. I'm hoping that maybe with this diet it will help lower my lipid profile at my next physical. I think incorporating more fresh fruits and vegetables as well as unrefined grains will provide many health benefits. I would like to know more about the different types of unrefined grains used and how to cook them. Coming from an Asian family, my main grain products were rice and noodles. I think it will benefit me to expand my knowledge about adapting the beneficial components of the Mediterranean diet and learn how to cook certain recipes in order to achieve better overall health.
