Essay / The advantages and disadvantages of medical assistance...
These patients gain autonomy to do this, their cognitive function must therefore function correctly. Patients suffering from complete paralysis or on life support also seek it because for them it is difficult to manage physical symptoms such as shortness of breath, incontinence, difficulty swallowing, nausea and vomiting or psychological factors like depression, a feeling of loss of control and dignity and a general aversion to being a burden or dependency on family members, while others argue that suicidal ideation or lack of palliative care decent conditions may be a reason to request assisted suicide. (Annadurai, Danasekaran, & Mani, 2014). The biggest disadvantage of physician-assisted suicide is that it goes against the Hippocratic Oath that physicians.
