Essay / The Inevitable Step 2 - 861
Step 2It was a corridor. The floor and sides were beige, the ceiling was covered in white, and an occasional light replaced a spot. There were also smooth, dark brown doors inside the hallway, and one at the end. I didn't see any numbers on the doors, they were all unassigned. I turn my head to look behind me, only to see that the elevator was no longer there, only a beige wall. I didn't remember ever getting out of the elevator. Unless I'm doing it unknowingly... I groaned, feeling annoyed. With nowhere to go, I head towards the first door. I try to turn the knob, but find that it doesn't turn all the way. Farm. What did I expect? No way this place is going to let me waltz into a room. I'm going to try the other door, which is symmetrical to the one I just tried. The handle twists and the door creaks open. Behind it, there was nothing. Just black. I almost go inside before my brain realizes I can't move forward. Like last time, when I tried to pull off the road, I couldn't. I close the door and turn towards the other doors. Anyway, I have nothing better to do. About four doors later, two locked, the other two just empty in the darkness. There was one door left at the end of the corridor. The other doors had been positioned against the side, this door however was against the symmetrical wall where the elevator was located. The knob turns easily, and as I expect there to be black nothingness behind it, I find a balcony instead. It was painted white and hung over the edge. Below, there was still black nothingness. It felt like I had two floors, and so on. I turned around, only to find that the door was closed and was no longer a sleek brown but a bright white. The doorknob...... middle of paper...... Type.
