When I was in high school and had the opportunity to go abroad for a year, I had a lot of doubts. I had my life planned out, one way or another. I was going to graduate high school, go to college, then medical school, and then become a doctor. I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that this was what I wanted to do. But then God put this opportunity in my life that I hadn't anticipated. Certainly, it was not a decision like Esther's. There was danger, of course, but more than that, there was the fear of failure and the fear that seizing this opportunity would change my plans. But I went for it. And guess what, it changed my life, my project, my vision of my own existence. It gave me the opportunity to see the world in a different way. It gave me the opportunity to see and know God in a completely different way. I'm here this morning convinced that if I hadn't taken this opportunity, my life would have been very different and I probably wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have met my wife, I wouldn't have had Ian and Mia, and I would have missed an opportunity that God had put in my path so that ...
