Essay / My moral values - 1107
My values are socially acceptable and I find my moral actions supported by my environment. Additionally, in everyday life, I am confident that I have enough values in my toolbox to act morally correctly. On the other hand, it is a weakness of my moral philosophy that it does not always provide answers. As a military officer, I face difficult moral dilemmas during training and operations. As a war leader, I am responsible for making life and death decisions, in a chaotic environment and with limited information. It is easy to say that I will always act according to my values and those of my company. Am I respecting the laws of war or am I acting for the greater good? Will I torture someone to save my family or am I willing to sacrifice my soldiers, my family and myself for the sake of it? When faced with difficult moral dilemmas, I must examine both the rules and the consequences and, based on my character and core values, make the decision that seems best to me..
