  • Essay / The Effects of a Post-Industrial Society - 1450

    As a first-generation college graduate from a small Michigan town once known as the center of the automobile industry, I can personally relate to the effects of a post-industrial society. As can be seen, millions of unskilled and undereducated physical workers have found themselves unemployable. Therefore, obtaining a college education is more important than ever in today's modern society. However, many members of marginalized cultures struggle to access the resources necessary to participate in the higher education system. Therefore, influencing negative psychological effects involving academic achievement and perpetuating lower socioeconomic status in disadvantaged cultures. With this in mind, my passion for teaching is deeply rooted in the opportunity to serve as a cultural mediator to connect with disadvantaged learners and help them overcome educational barriers related to academic success and psychological well-being. As an advocate and educator of students from diverse social communities, my project is to research and implement activities related to educational support to promote upward social mobility. Ultimately, I hope to be able to reduce some of the extreme inequalities that individuals experience in lower socioeconomic communities. However, I understood that the only way to nourish this desire is to discover an environment where I am needed. I also recognize that changing the status quo alone is impossible. However, I am committed to transforming the life of one student at a time. As a behavioral and social science professional, I am fortunate to have many essential tools for analyzing and structuring strategies for working to improve these disparities. Another technique that I have found helpful is using infographics, short videos, lectures, and podcasts. To assess the learning objectives, I will include journals, essay exams, case studies, book reports, presentations, and research papers. As a teacher, I am committed to lifelong learning. My continuing professional development is directly correlated to the adult learner experience. As an instructor, I am dedicated to being involved in the recruitment and retention of adult learners with specific goals, effective tracking systems, and timely reporting on at-risk indicators. I understand that I must always be aware that adult learners bring with them experiences, potentially negative past experiences related to school, which may require more attention..
