Essay / Serial Killer: Theodore Robert Bundy - 1561
Theodore Bundy was a notorious American serial killer who preyed on many young women in the 1970s and possibly earlier. He was linked to at least 30 counts of homicide and suspected of having a hundred or more. Beyond homicide, he has also shown himself capable of other sinister crimes such as rape, kidnapping, and necrophilia. His most common method of killing was an attack to the head with a blunt weapon. However, he didn't just kill his victims; the evidence concludes that each was also sexually assaulted and sodomized. He even allegedly revisited his crime scenes to engage in sexual acts with the decomposing corpses. Moreover, at least 12 of his victims had been decapitated. Despite his plethora of heinous crimes, he was well-liked by his peers. He did particularly well in school and was eager to learn. His charisma, intelligence and striking looks have made him a celebrity icon. These characteristics along with his academic prowess made him an unlikely suspect for the crimes he committed. Bundy was born to an unmarried Louise Cowell on November 24, 1946 as Theodore Robert Cowell; he did not know his biological father. Her birthplace was at the Elizabeth Lund Home For Unwed Mothers in Burlington, Vermont. Because she was ashamed of his illegitimate birth, she sent young Bundy to be raised by his grandparents in Philadelphia. She and the rest of her family and friends were told that her grandparents were her parents and her mother was her sister; whose aim was to avoid further ignominy. Four years later, after many requests from his grandparents, he left Philadelphia with his mother to live with other relatives in Tacoma, Washin...... middle of paper ......, many of those who interacted with him considered him cold-blooded, heartless, manipulative, and the very definition of evil.
