This article examines the use of propaganda and its subsequent effects during the Iraq War. It will examine some specific events such as George W. Bush's infamous "mission accomplished moment," as well as other incidents during the war that may have been a tactic to deceive the American public. This article will also examine the censorship used by major news media and how it has affected the public's perspectives. As one of the only ways to get information about a major war that the United States was a part of, these news outlets, in any type of media, whether newspapers or television, could say anything to their audience, and they should accept that without question. Using these examples from the Iraq War, the complete dominance and power of the media can be demonstrated by their control of information. It is assumed that in 2002, before the war, this administration used propaganda and mass media to exaggerate the war on terrorism, thereby creating a nationwide deception, thereby creating an inevitable war with questionable motives. Before the war, the United Nations Security Council questioned Iraq over its alleged possession of weapons of mass destruction. Resolution 1441 was adopted, calling on Iraq to cooperate fully with UN weapons inspectors. No nuclear weapons were found by weapons inspectors before the war or by anyone after the war. The main controversy arising from the invasion of Iraq was the reasoning behind it, as it seems very unclear.
