  • Essay / Ethical Teachings of Jesus - 850

Society is a living organism. Just like the immune system, the military and police provide protection against invaders and criminal elements. Much like the digestive system, industrial plants derive energy from raw materials. Just like our veins and arteries, roads, waterways, and railroads carry these products through our bodies, and just like the colon and bladder, waste is collected by landfills and sewer systems. However, above all of these vital organs are our bones. , which support our body and allow us to move forward correctly. And like Jesus, the importance of our bones is often forgotten. Jesus is the model for 21st century Christian living by providing a framework that allows society to move forward in a morally correct manner. This framework is what we call the ethical teachings of Jesus. An example of Jesus' teachings is found in Matthew 7:13-14. “Enter through the narrow door. Violence leads to abuse. Abuses give rise to war. Each side aims to stop the other's attacks by retaliating on a scale so large that the other cannot sustain it. Unfortunately, the expected result of such a paradox is almost never achieved. How can one achieve victory by “exchanging an eye for an eye,” or, more realistically, by participating in war? This is the foundation that Jesus is trying to establish. We find ourselves engaged in a struggle in Iraq that seems to have no solution. Perhaps with the help of Jesus' teachings we can find this solution. Jesus serves as a model for 21st century Christian living by providing society with a framework or guidelines. Perhaps through the teachings of Jesus we can find the heart beneath the organs of hatred, materialism and power..
