  • Essay / The Pros and Cons of Procrastination - 1036

According to Rebecca Klein of the Huffington Post, "About 87 percent of [13,000 students surveyed] said they procrastinated on their schoolwork." Many of them spend their time on social media and watching television (Huffington Post). Procrastination is the action of delaying or postponing any action and similarly, a student defines it as postponing a task until the very last possible moment to complete it. Due to procrastination, students often have sleepless nights to complete their assignment, which then causes a huge amount of avoidable stress. Additionally, the quality of work might not reach its full potential and result in a lower grade due to insufficient time allocated, which could also have been avoided. Because of this, students can potentially fail because they will have difficulty keeping up with their schoolwork. Procrastination arises from the bad habit of being lazy, but like any other habit, it is extremely difficult to get rid of because of how habituated students get used to it over time. In order to free yourself from this harmful routine act, you need to pull yourself together, focus your mind on what is important and eliminate all unnecessary distractions. By freeing themselves from their unhealthy habit of procrastination, students will surely achieve better academic results in order to achieve their goals.
