    Now that you've finished college with your teaching degree and are ready to start your new job as a teacher, you're wondering, "So Why is classroom management something I need to know on my first day? It's simple; Classroom management is one of the essential tools you should invest in as a teacher. If you lack classroom management, you probably won't be a good teacher. Statistics indicate that “40% of beginning teachers leave the profession within the first five years” (Garrett, p. 46); It’s because teachers lack respect from students. This statistic also ties into the fact that students are not properly shown that effective classroom management is what keeps them away from their profession due to the way students behave. Through extensive research into classroom management, I have discovered that by starting your year with a daily routine by helping lessons flow more smoothly because children like routines, I have discovered that teachers should establish nonverbal cues so teachers don't have to. stop in the middle of a lesson to reprimand a student and I have found that if students do not complete a task correctly the first time, a teacher should ask them to complete the task and do it correctly. This is why investing in classroom management will make you a well-rounded teacher. It's the first day of school and you can't wait to meet your new students and have your own classroom. But before you start, you need to understand and implement rules and regulations. As a beginning teacher, we seem to have high expectations. It is imperative that you do not set your goals too high where you start to struggle. It's often easy to get off task and away from competent classroom management, but it's important that we don't let our students take over. Dr. Ediger from Truman University gives us some tips on how we can help these students learn cooperation in the classroom. The advice is to: “engage students in interesting activities, move the lesson forward to minimize interruptions, plan each lesson very carefully so that students realize the seriousness of teaching and learning” (Ediger, page 15 ) ; understanding the discipline and curriculum can greatly help in having effective classroom management.
