  • Essay / Alternative Fuels - 1052

Alternative FuelsNowadays, one of the main concerns of the world is energy. Currently, we rely on oil to run our cars, and for central heating and electricity in our homes. Not only is oil limited, but it also pollutes the planet's air and depletes the ozone layer as it burns. Alternative fuels are one of the most talked about problems in the world, and many solutions have been proposed, but none of them have been implemented in a sophisticated way. Through the list of advantages and disadvantages, it will be necessary to determine the importance of alternative fuels and to what extent the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, thus imposing the reality that we must start moving towards these alternative forms of energy and fuel. Despite the minor flaws of using alternative fuels, the benefits are very obvious, and exploring this topic should certainly be a factor in scientists' studies. Solar energy is described as harnessing the sun's rays in different ways. Solar energy is considered very clean, quite safe and obviously free. The primary method of capturing solar energy is through the use of solar panel cells, or pads. This energy is then converted into direct current type energy, identical to that used in batteries. Solar power can be found on some cars, homes, and RVs. Most people use it on their car, as a trickle charger for their batteries, so that if they leave a small accessory on in their car, they won't come back with a dead battery and won't be able to get home. them. Solar energy does not require waste disposal, as it produces no harmful byproducts or emits hazardous fumes or liquids. The problem with these solar panels is that they often break down and repeatedly fail to work properly. They are also very expensive and require a lot of maintenance. When used in a residential environment, in order to receive a high output from these panels, there must be a large quantity of panels. These panels are normally sold in eight-by-four rectangles, and to have enough to power your home, the average household would need ten thousand square feet of panels. This would add up to a considerable amount of money in a person's wallet, with very high prices (Wikipedia). Another non-depleting energy source that we can harness is wind energy. Wind power is generated middle of paper...usually endless source. These dams also spark another complaint from animal rights activists because migratory fish are unable to move up the river. This causes many deaths in the salmon family (University of Alberta). There are many opportunities to put Mother Nature at our service to replace our current harmful energy technologies. The human race was not created to destroy, but simply to exist and thrive. We will find that this is not as easy as it seems, but we could start by researching alternative forms of energy. We already have the sketch and the draft, all we need is the final copy. If we could make these pros and cons known to the public, there would be a good chance that we would see more of these alternative fuel sources in the near future.
