In 1959, in his book The Sociological Imagination, C. Wright Mills described a unique type of critical thinking as an awareness of the relationship between an individual and the society as a whole. , today like yesterday. He called this thinking a sociological imagination. This allows an individual to better understand how they live their life and their role in society. Through this particular type of thinking, we can see how our personal lives are connected to society. The Philippine archipelago is home to 90 million inhabitants. With approximately 92% of our population Roman Catholic, the Philippines is second only to Brazil and Mexico as the largest Catholic nation in the world. Colonized by Spain for over 300 years, the Filipinos embraced the religion introduced by the Spaniards. With several presidents who call themselves devout Catholics, the Catholic Church greatly influences Philippine society and politics. An example is the People Power Revolution of 1986 which ended the Marcos regime. The country also recognizes special days in the Catholic calendar as public holidays. In addition, Sunday is generally the day off for workers to spend the day with God, more specifically to participate in the Eucharistic celebration. One of the ten commandments God gave to Moses was to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. As a Roman Catholic, it is a Christian duty to attend church every Sabbath day and celebrate the Holy Eucharist. This article will evaluate the behavior and characteristics of the people attending the Eucharistic celebration scheduled for Saturday in the Catholic Church of Malate, all from the perspective of a presumed sociologist.
