    The Gospel of Mark is the second book of the New Testament. It is believed to have been written between 50 and 67 AD. It was written by John Mark, a secretary and interpreter of Saint Peter, who recorded his preachings. John Mark wrote the Gospel for non-Jewish Christians, persecuted for their faith in Rome. Above all, he had one objective: to prove to the Roman Christians that Jesus was the Almighty Son of God. John painted the picture of Jesus as a healer, a miracle worker, and a preacher willing to suffer at the expense of faith and the pursuit of God's mission. He wanted the public to know that Jesus did not live a fairy tale life; he was judged and ridiculed by others, but he still did not stray from his mission here on earth which was to preach the news of the lord and save us from our sins. The Gospel of Mark begins with the baptism of Jesus unlike the other gospels which begin with the Birth of Jesus.
