  • Essay / Case Study: Squidward Tentacles - 890

Squidward Tentacles is an employee of the Krusty Krab. He is a 34-year-old man. He resides in Bikini Bottom. His hobbies include playing the clarinet and painting several paintings that he has false hopes will one day be published in a museum. He hates going to work and is horrible with customer service. He shows a strong desire to integrate into a caste higher than his own. There have been many episodes where, when given the chance to prove himself worthy of a higher caste, he retreats to a safer place like his home. His level of esteem seems very low. He never leaves his house other than for work. He hates being social and this is very evident in every action Squidward takes. He rarely goes out and when he does, there is never a second date. He is a healthy man of his age. He really doesn't have many friends. There are his two neighbors SpongeBob and Patrick Star, they want to be friends with him but Squidward can barely tolerate either of them. When he is sad, he usually turns to music, painting or taking bubble baths, which he takes very often. His goal or aspiration in life is to become a famous artist and musician. She's a very intelligent person, but her social skills are absolutely horrible. I diagnosed Squidward with avoidant personality disorder, also known as anxious personality disorder. AvPD is a Cluster C personality disorder recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders as afflicting people when they display a pervasive pattern of social inhibition, feelings of inadequacy, extreme sensitivity to negative evaluation and an avoidance of social interactions. Symptoms of this disorder are avoidance of work, low self-esteem and self-isolation. A popular treatment ... middle of paper ... anxiety disorders, and everyone suffers from anxiety, I know Squidward suffers from it with his disorder.
