Living in America I had the misconception that this form of poverty only exists in third world countries, but it turned out I was wrong. Our welfare system is broken, our neighborhoods are destroyed, and our children's futures have been stolen, all in the name of governments needing to save money. Many of these children, like David de (Kozol, 68), are filled with wisdom born of religious faith and seek to improve their lives and those of their families.
