Essay / Roe v. Wade - 571
One of the most controversial topics even in today's society is the right to abortion. Some people believe that life begins at conception and that even an unborn child deserves the same legal protections as an adult. Pro-life advocates claim that ending one's life is tantamount to murder (POLS210, nd). Meanwhile, others also known as Pro-Choice believe that it begins at birth and that, along with laws that restrict abortion, it hinders a woman's right to make a decision about this. which is in its own interest (US History, nd). ).Fifteen-year-old Norma McCorvey, the plaintiff known as Jane Roe (Napikoski, n.d.), was an unmarried pregnant woman who challenged five sections of the Texas Penal Code; Articles 1191, 1192, 1193, 1194 as well as 1196 (POLS210, nd). The articles prevented her from having an abortion, which she wanted at the time, without income or funds to access it. She represented all women who found themselves in the same situation because she was not put in danger by her pregnancy; under Texas statutes, it was a criminal abortion. According to Case Briefs (nd), with the help of her attorneys, Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee, she believed that Texas statutes were unfairly vague and that, along with the Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments protecting her, they reduced his right to privacy. For the reason that Roe v. Wade was about civil rights, under the United States Constitution, it was filed in the federal court system instead of state courts. On March 3, 1970, the case was filed at the federal courthouse in Dallas by Coffee, who asked the court to declare the law unconstitutional and end its enforcement. On December 13, 1971, a trial was scheduled in middle of paper ......sm and became a member of the pro-life movement and became an anti-abortion spokesperson. (nd). Roe v. Wade.
